Every time you use an oscilloscope to see a waveform or take a measurement, you would like to have confidence in the quality of the answer. Is the waveform you see an accurate representation of your input signal? Are the measurements on the oscilloscope sufficiently accurate? You need to be mindful of how much distortion, noise, and loss your oscilloscope is introducing.
