Alias Manager Utility Read Me

An Alias Manager for the Agilent IO Libraries
Version 1.0.0.1 (February 2003)

General Information:

This application allows you to add, edit and delete alias names for VISA and SICL resource strings.

Currently, version M.01.00 of the Agilent IO Libraries automatically assigns and manages alias names only for USB devices. This application allows you to create and manage alias names for all devices, not just USB devices. It also lets you save and restore the alias names to/from a file.

* The Agilent IO Libraries must be installed before this application can be used.

* Starting with version M.01.00 of the Agilent IO Libraries:
o Alias names can be used for both VISA and SICL resource strings.
o These alias names can be any combination of ASCII characters.

* Prior to version M.01.00 of the Agilent IO Libraries:
o Alias names are supported only for SICL.
o Alias names must use a restricted set of characters.
o If this application is used with a version of the Agilent IO Libraries earlier than M.01.00, it will allow you to manage only SICL alias names using only the restricted set of characters.
