Direct I/O: ENA Data Acquisition & Display Read Me

This sample program creates, measures, transfers data, and displays parameters created on a Vector Network Analyzer.

Date: April 2005

Version: 1.0

Language: Agilent VEE Pro 7.5 (or later)

Instruments: ENA Series Network Analyzers

OS Requirements: Microsoft® Windows® 2000 or XP

Additional Software: Agilent IO Libraries 14.0 (or later)

The goal in this application is to setup multiple s-parameter measurements in a channel selected by the user. Each of the program blocks was written using the best practices in controlling and reading data on a ENA. Read the notes inside of each block to get details on why each command is sent. On most PNAs running various versions of the firmware, up to 16 measurements can be created in a single channel. In this example at least 4 parameters must be chose, and only the first 4 can be displayed in the VEE trace display window. However, any number of parameters can be added to the list, the measurements created, and the data transferred to the VEE program.

If you have installed VEE, you can open the sample program by double-clicking on it or by using VEE's File > Open or File > Open Example menu items. To utilize VEE's Instrument Manager's "Load Sample" capabilities with the sample program, copy the sample program and the .xml file (with the same name as the VEE sample program) into the following directory:

<VEE Pro home directory>\examples\InstrumentIO\InstrManagerIntegrated
