NTT Innovative Devices and Keysight: Driving Photonics Breakthroughs
Show Description
NTT Innovative Devices Corporation, led by Senior Executive Vice President and CTO Mr. Tomizawa, is at the forefront of advancing photonic-electronic convergence (PEC) technology. Formed in 2023 through the integration of NTT Electronics and a research unit within NTT Laboratories, the company’s mission is to develop and manufacture cutting-edge devices that power NTT’s Innovative Optical and Wireless Network (IOWN) initiative.
IOWN is designed to deliver ultra-high-speed, high-capacity, ultra-low latency, and low-power global communications and computing infrastructure by leveraging All-Photonics Network (APN) technologies. Supported by more than 120 leading technology companies, the initiative is targeting commercial realization by 2030. A key driver is PEC technology, which reduces power consumption and heat generation while enabling efficient photonic transmission across both long-distance communication and short-distance, high-density computing environments.
For over a decade, NTT has built a strong collaboration with Keysight Technologies, beginning in 2013 with a groundbreaking 100 Gbps DSP development project. Keysight has consistently supported NTT’s advancements with state-of-the-art measurement solutions, including high-bandwidth oscilloscopes, arbitrary waveform generators, optical modulation analyzers, and lightwave component analyzers. This partnership has often gone beyond traditional supplier relationships, with Keysight providing early access to pre-release instruments to accelerate innovation.
Together, NTT Innovative Devices and Keysight have achieved major milestones, such as the 448 Gbps signaling solution, which is vital to realizing 3.2T communications. Looking ahead, both organizations remain committed to strengthening their partnership to drive next-generation photonics and transform the future of global networks.
