The new Sequence Ray Tracing capability improves the efficiency of stray light analysis by letting users define specific ray paths and surface intersections, reducing simulation time and memory usage for complex optical systems. A new global optimization engine expands the design space beyond local minima, providing stronger starting points for refining illumination system performance.
This release also brings expanded capabilities for environmental modeling and thin film design. The updated environmental analysis allows engineers to account for temperature and pressure effects on refractive indices and supports seamless model transfer from CODE V. In addition, thin film stack editing is now more flexible, and geometric modeling enhancements offer more precise control over complex shapes using parameters and expressions. These updates to LightTools give optical engineers the tools to create better-performing, production-ready designs with greater speed and accuracy.
