In this demo, Keysight Technologies introduces its EXata digital twin simulator, designed to emulate real-world Non-Terrestrial Network (NTN) scenarios and validate seamless handovers between terrestrial (TN) and satellite-based networks. This simulation is a key enabler for future 6G deployments, where hybrid connectivity will be essential.
The scenario models a vessel maneuvering from the shoreline into open sea. Initially connected via 5G terrestrial networks, the vessel loses coverage as it moves offshore. At this point, the system initiates a handover to satellite connectivity, reflecting the growing importance of NTN in extending coverage beyond traditional infrastructure.
To bring this simulation closer to reality, Keysight integrates hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing. This includes:
By combining digital twin modeling with physical emulation, the system provides a highly realistic testbed for validating network performance, handover reliability, and user experience in complex environments.
This approach allows operators and researchers to:
As 6G evolves to include ubiquitous connectivity, AI-driven orchestration, and satellite integration, tools like EXata and Keysight’s HIL framework will be critical for ensuring smooth transitions and robust performance.
This demo highlights how digital twin technology can accelerate innovation, reduce deployment risks, and support the development of intelligent, adaptive networks for the next generation of wireless communication.
