ADS 2027 is available now!
ADS 2027 continues to offer the industry’s most demanding RF & Microwave, High-Speed Digital, Power Electronics, Quantum Electronics and Photonics designs- helping you innovate faster and with greater confidence. This release introduces several powerful new capabilities, including:
- Advanced features for RF/MW, High-Speed Digital, Power, Silicon Photonics, and Quantum Electronics applications.
- Major improvements in Python automation, electromagnetic simulation, layout, design verification, and electro-thermal simulation.
- Enhanced circuit simulation models, data/design management, and optimized high-performance computing (HPC) support.
Circuit Simulation Enhancements
- New MOSFET models-
- L-UTSOI Version 102.9 for fully depleted silicon-on-insulator technology.
- BSIMCMG model version 112.0.0. for 3D multi-gate transistors.
- Fast Envelope
- Frequency and power samples can now be specified.
- Finer accuracy control.
- Output memory kernels to diagnose unexpected behavior.
- Harmonic Balance
- Using Order=0 is no longer available in HB or its variants (Envelope, LSSP, XDB, XP). It removes confusion from an equivalent DC simulation.
EM Simulation
- General
- New dropdown on EM toolbar lists all analyses in EM view (n/a for EM Setup views). The selected EM analysis will run in headless mode with the start/stop simulation button.
- RFPro GUI
- Now supports OpenAccess 22.61, 22.62, 22.60 and 22.50.
- RFPro FEM
- Improved G-S-G modeling for better accuracy.
- FEM generation 3 solver with
- Enhanced mesh domain optimization (MDO) when ground is side-by-side to signal or undefined nets.
- Faster mesh generation by parallelization.
- Enhanced error estimation and mesh refinement to improve mesh convergence.
- Sparse direct GPU solver can achieve 5-10x speedup with high end GPUs.
- RFPro Momentum
- Width etching process bias temperature derating for accurate simulation of IC trace temperature-adjusted resistance.
- Closed Loop and Delta Gap feed type for vertical component ports with +pins at different layers.
- 3D volume conductor model.
Design and Technology Management
- Unarchive Wizard can now unarchive symbolic links for user convenience.
- New AEL function to open files with sharing on Windows.
- Demo Python PDK (PyPDK) to provide Python-based framework for developing the next generation of AI ready PDK.
- Python documentation improvement
- Better organization into logical groupings to help Python workflow automation implementation.
- Know what application features are possible with Python.
- Python macro recording to show how user applications can be implemented into equivalent Python code for workflow automation.
Design Editing and Layout
- Automation
- ADS MCP (Model Context Protocol) Server enables AI assistants to interact with ADS through a standardized interface. Users can invoke MCP clients such as Visual Studio Code to connect to an active ADS session, run Python code and retrieve ADS documentation.
- Python script auto-generation from schematic and layout for use in workflow automation.
- Python macro recording of user design workflow for subsequent automation.
- General Usability Enhancements
- New native layout-based bondwires, offering improved design fidelity over legacy schematic-based approach.
- Revamped design window preferences UI with tree-based keyboard navigation, search and defaults restore.
- Automation mode to evaluate expressions with full evaluator.
- Improved MKS units conversion to reduce floating point precision noise for cleaner parameter values.
- Parameter callback precision control of double-precision parameter values in AEL PDKs.
- Tuning precision control of tuned parameters.
- Hot key CTRL+R Pin placement rotation for frequent usage.
- Crosshair cursor persistence during Layout Chop operation to enable precise grid alignment.
- Python API enhanced for design sync automation.
- Support for creating custom design commands to enhance workflow.
- Automatic via naming when editing the start or stop PCB layer.
- Multiple PCB vias editing.
- Rotation preference for stacked PCB vias.
- Clearer visibility control of PCB Via and PCB Pad.

- OpenAccess update to the latest 22.62p019 active version.
Design Import/Export
- ODB++/IPC2581/brd imports now include the component heights. Enhance accuracy of thermal resistance model.
- Allegro ADFI in ADS 2027 and later requires Allegro 23.10 (with Hotfix_SPB23.10.009) or later to load and run the ADFI Skill code in eemom.cxt version 6.1.0 and higher. Older Allegro versions are no longer supported.
Layout and Schematic Verification
- General
- Python automation for layout verification tools.
- Design Rule Check (DRC)
- DRC message labels use rule caption in PVS DRC results.
- 9 new DRC rules for edge selection, cell artwork and text.
- Layout Versus Schematic (LVS)
- Hierarchy policy to specify view to use for LVS comparison.
- Schematic versus Schematic
- Schematic Versus Schematic Circuit Comparison can be run using an AEL job API.
- Highlighting equivalent components improved.
· Data Display
- New Parallel Coordinates plot type. Visualize multi-variable relationships simultaneously. Useful for comparing results across multiple simulations to spot trends or abnormal behaviors.
- Python editor improvements to display equation errors with direct cursor placement when double-clicked.
- Python page widgets can be saved with the .dds file.
- Python examples for page widgets and interoperability between measurement equations and Python functions.
- Trace history sequencing preference to use either line color or line color family.
- DDS windows and datasets from Nexus can now be refreshed from a toolbar button.
- The pwdatatools Python library is updated to datatools, with some changes in the API. Review the Change Log datatools documentation to review the changes.
Electrothermal (ETH) Simulation
- Layer-per-layer heat flux reporting in addition to the insights provided earlier by per-layer temperature summaries (minimum, maximum, and average).

- Power Electronics Netlist Translator
- Added Power Electronics Netlist Translator for converting PSpice and LTspice netlists into ADS format.
- Supports the same SPICE constructs as the legacy Netlist Translator and will replace it in a future release.
Quantum Electronics
- General
- New quantum workflow example of 2 transmon qubits coupled via a tunable coupler, showing end-to-end design and validation of tunable coupling architectures.
- Improved Python scripting and API documentation across ADS quantum tools to improve usability and support emerging agentic AI workflows.
- Hamiltonian and Time Dynamics simulation data automatically saved in datasets for reuse without re-simulation.
- Quantum Layout
- New component for two coupled transmon-cross qubits with a tunable coupler to enable efficient design and exploration of tunable coupling architectures.
- QuantumPro
- Python API access to C-matrix extraction from EM S-Parameters, returning SPICE and Maxwell capacitance matrices calibrated in femtoFarads and evaluated at the lowest swept frequency point to approximate the DC quasi-static limit.
- Substrate parameter sweeps for EM variation analysis.
- GPU acceleration of FEM eigenmode solver via Nvidia cuDSS.
- QuantumPro can now be launched from Cadence Virtuoso to enable superconducting quantum design in the Cadence design workflow.
- Improved usability and reliability for quantum extraction across frequency domain and energy participation analyses.

- Improved qubit detection with frequency estimation and guidance when qubits fall outside analyzed frequency range.
- Low confidence extraction indicator with red highlighting.

- EDA Chat can be accessed from ADS Main window, click Help > Chat. If the EDA Chat add-on is not enabled, you will be redirected to the EDA AI Download page.
- More engaging and interactive experience with streaming EDA chat response.
- Chat response is product version specific for accurate response.
- Secure Software Development Framework (SSDF) compliant.

Keysight Design Cloud High Performance Computing (HPC)
- New Python API to fetch job ID submitted on Design Cloud.
- Automatic handling of missing extensions in PDK referenced AEL files when uploaded to Design Cloud.

- MAC Address Requirements: Licenses must now be tied to the physical MAC address of the PC, Licenses can no longer be bound to aliased, virtual, or removable Ethernet devices, such as USB network adapters or docking stations.
If your current license configuration is impacted by these changes, we encourage you to contact Keysight EDA Business Support or get in touch with your local Keysight EDA Field Representative. They will assist you in initiating a License Transfer Agreement to transition your license to one tied to a physical MAC address.
