Keysight CAE Structural Mechanics (VPS) is a high-fidelity simulation software designed to model and predict the physical behavior of systems subjected to extreme dynamic events such as crash, impact, airbag deployment, occupant safety, and fluid–structure interaction. Built on advanced physics-based methods, including mesh-dependent and mesh-free approaches, VPS enables engineers to evaluate safety, performance, and robustness using a single, reusable simulation model.

It addresses:

  • Vehicle crash and impact scenarios, including frontal, side, rear, and oblique impacts
  • Occupant safety analyses, using crash test dummies and human body models
  • Airbag deployment and interaction, using advanced fluid and gas modeling techniques
  • Seat safety, comfort, and whiplash assessments through integrated structural and occupant modeling
  • Fluid - structure interaction problems, such as water crossing, splash, and airbag inflation

Highlights of Keysight Structural Mechanics (VPS) 2026.0

  1. New Input Data Encryption System. Sub-model data encryption replaces limited solver keyword encryption, using modern open-source cryptology with strengthened security. A batch tool for encryption is provided.

  2. Modular Material Model Extension. GISSMO damage model; ECL failure model enhancement; Yoshida Plasticity.

  3. Simulation Stability Improvement. Smarter treatment for detected debris; stabilization for free-flying rigid bodies or rigid links.

  4. Modeling Efficiency. Load-Case management in VE GUI and SDK Batch; Shell elements offset for easier meshing at structural junction areas or upper/lower surface; central path for include files.

  5. Support for Crash Test Protocol Evolutions. MPDB barriers SD criterion; Material property switch for AEB OOP China-NCAP protocol. Displacement TH output in moving local frame for intrusion measurements; Quality indicator: mass scaling TH output at component-level.
