Keysight E8491B IEEE-1394 PC Link to VXI是C尺寸的消息基模块，它通过工业标准IEEE-1394总线(FireWire)提供PC机与VXI主机箱的直接连接。对于使用E84XX主机箱系列的测试应用，E8491B是物美价廉的选择。E8491B最适合传输大量数据块的数据采集应用。
E8491B是带有资源管理器和0槽能力的高速C尺寸设备。其逻辑地址为0，因此总是主机箱的资源管理器，通常安装在主机箱的0槽。高速的实现部分是通过使用在双绞线上差分传输具有可控阻抗特性的小信号(200 mV)。该差分信号提供高噪声抗扰度。
E8491B包括C尺寸VXI 0槽模块和一条4.5m的电缆。由于无需关断电源即可自动识别新的IEEE-1394基设备，因而能容易完成配置，这一特性称为"热插入"。
