Modern digital modulation schemes have greatly improved spectral efficiency, which is crucial when working in a finite frequency spectrum. The cost of these complex modulation schemes is a potential in increased distortion, which can be problematic in communication systems if not properly investigated and accounted for. A common challenge in RF/Microwave design is precisely characterizing power levels of complex signals. Without a clear definition of the power statistics of a signal, component and system designers cannot efficiently develop communication systems. Keysight’s Power Stat CCDF application provides Power Complementary Cumulative Distribution Function (CCDF) curves which define without ambiguity the power statics of complex signals.
