As the global energy landscape shifts towards renewable sources in alignment with the Paris Agreement, the transition from centralized power generation to decentralized inverter-based systems raises concerns regarding the reliability of electrical appliances powered by inverters. This application note explores the design and function of inverter circuits, particularly full-bridge inverters, and highlights the significance of verifying appliance performance in this new paradigm. It focuses on the capabilities of Keysight Technologies' AC6900 Series high-performance AC power supplies and the accompanying AC69 Harmonic and Automotive software, which allow for the simulation of real-world inverter outputs and the editing of harmonic components. By ensuring that electrical devices can operate reliably under these conditions, this study aims to support the safe adoption of inverter technology in a sustainable energy future.
