Quickly and accurately characterize jitter on long patterns and live traffic
Powerful and intuitive application that lets you:
• Save time by characterizing and viewing jitter (TJ, DJ, RJ, J2, J9) on multiple lanes and devices

The demand for higher-speed data networks places a greater burden on the physical channel and has stimulated the need for additional jitter parameters on live traffic and long patterns such as PRBS31. These patterns are commonly required in IEEE802.3 standards and OIF CEI implementation agreements.
Keysight Technologies, Inc. has significantly updated the 86100DU-401 software, offering an even easier-to-use application within the FlexDCA interface. Depending on your measurement needs, you now have three methods to obtain the jitter and amplitude interference parameters for your devices.
Perform jitter separation directly within FlexDCA
Use intuitive interface to configure jitter parameters
Provide a signal to your DCA and module, set up measurement conditions within FlexDCA, enable Eye Mode, choose up to eight signals and click on desired measurements. It’s that easy to decompose jitter for multiple channels or lanes into the desired components including J2, J5 and J9.
See all of your results on one screen
While measuring multiple single-ended channels or differential lanes, view up to 32 selected jitter parameters at the desired BER level. The results show the fixed RJ value if you have utilized that choice to further improve your measured values of RJ, DJ and TJ.

Enable the automation application
Option 401 also includes a UDA-based application that provides choices on which method you prefer to separate jitter. You may also choose the source of the RJ values to be from eye mode, jitter mode or those obtained from a spectrum or phase noise analyzer. The application automates the steps for these, particularly when using jitter mode for multiple lanes. Executing multiple test runs allows you to analyze historical trends or performance across devices.
View condensed results and convergence progress
Similar to the table in eye mode, you may see a compact table of all six jitter components for each channel or lane in the results section of the application and in the HTML report. Utilize the included progress graph for total jitter (TJ) to assess if you have collected sufficient jitter data to meet your desired level of performance. You can collect more data by simply changing the times on the configure tab.

Utilize flexible test configurations
The Excel version of the 401 application configures several measurement parameters (such as BER level and DDPWS) and enables control of several bit-error rate testers (BERTs). You can choose how you would like to obtain the values of RJ and configure masks to your needs.
View complete results and eye contour
Once the measurements have been completed, you have ready access to the separated components of jitter and amplitude interference. You may also characterize the eye contour to the appropriate mask required. Visually assessing the convergence of the jitter measurements helps you determine if you have collected sufficient measurement samples.
