Introduction
Antenna arrays are key elements of communication systems. The control of electromagnetic radiated patterns is usually expensive, involving complex geometrical configurations [1]. Time-modulated arrays (TMAs) are antenna arrangements operated with electronic switches, and constitute an alternative solution to power pattern control [2]. In a previous work [3], we introduced a theoretical TMA system governed by bipolar squared periodic sequences, capable of handling the main beam of some of the generated harmonic patterns. Here we present the numerical modeling of such a bipolar TMA (BTMA) system, considering a more realistic model. Specifically, we simulate an 8-element BTMA composed of microstrip patches and designed for operating at 5-GHz.
